On Sept. 11, 2008 everyone in our IWES-Gilman building went to the flag pole to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in remembrance of the events that took place on 9-11-2001.
Later that day our elementary schools celebrated Mexican Independence Day. Several of the students performed authentic Mexican dances and each grade level sang a song in Spanish under the direction of Mrs. Muench. Each grade level also performed an English-Spanish dialog.
On October 16th the second grades will go on their annual field trip to Curtis Apple Orchard and the planetarium at Parkland Jr. College. This is always a wonderful day for them!!
The second grades are starting their unit about the Solar System. We are learning the planet names and positions from the sun in order. Our class has had three reports and projects turned in. They are WONDERFUL!! A lot of hard work went into making these.
The second grades will take part in the safety program ”Camp 911″ activities on September 23rd. The students will be involved in the activities from 8:45 a.m.-11:30 a.m. They look forward to this each year!!
The second grades will have their informational meeting on September 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the GES cafeteria. We are looking forward to seeing every parent!!
